The following, I hope will help you in finding yourself a healthy puppy dog from a reputable breeder.
BUYING A POMERANIAN – WHERE TO LOOK (and not to look!)
First, is the Pomeranian right for you, of all the small
dogs bred today I can honestly say they are the only small breed that I would
recommend for a family pet, many of the small breeds can be “snappy”, generally
Pomeranians are not, however if you are looking for a small family dog, the Pomeranain is the best choice. Many of the small breeds are "terriers", these are foremost working dogs, so instinct will make them hunt and kill, so if you have young children or small animals, cats or others, beware of terriers, especially Jack Russells!
Will your puppy be left alone for more than 4 hours a day?
Do you have children – they are very good with Children, but like any animal they can “turn” if they are severely abused by children, they are very patient and will put up with much, but not spiteful kids, no animal will!
Do you have Cats? - I have also found that the Pomeranian is very good with cats, as I had several Siamese when I got my first Pom’s and the cat will always win!
The puppy/dog will learn to love and respect your cat, providing they are properly introduced, however the pup will learn after a few “smacks” on the nose from the cat when he/she is being too inquisitive or boisterous!
What other dogs to you have? – Poms are generally very good mixers, and ALL pets should be neutered.
Do you have a secure garden?
Do you have time to play, groom and generally give your puppy your time and love?
Can you afford vets bills? I always insure my babies before they leave me, and suggest you continue with the insurance cover as vets bills can run into thousands!
Do you have 15 or 16 years to devote to your puppy dog?
You must take all this into consideration BEFORE you buy your puppy.
What Sex Should I get?
This of course depends on your preference, but ALL pets must be neutered, certainly by the time they are 6 months old, before they start developing hormones etc., then it makes no difference whether you have a girl or a boy, they will be a loving neutered pet, which is what you no doubt want!
Female pom puppies are like “hens teeth” – very hard to find a genuine Pomeranian bitch puppy as breeders keep them to continue their breeding lines – you must understand that these little dogs only have very small litters, often only one or two, also they can only breed 4 litters in their life, breeders will of course keep the girls to carry on the bloodline.
Male puppies are generally much easier to find, as only the cream of the crop is kept by the breeder, so if you want a “pet” you are much better off concentrating on finding a genuine Pomeranian little boy, as these are more readily available, they also hold their coats much better, do not shed as much, and personally as a pet I would prefer a boy, as I find them so much more loving, but again I do insist that all pets are neutered for their own health and welfare.
If you want to show or breed, this will take you some time to find a reputable breeder who would be prepared to let you have a puppy, also if you want to show, again the best bet is a little boy, again the reasons are stated above, so if you wish to show go for a male!
There are quite a few Pomeranian breeders in the UK, however
it is always the best place to find a genuine puppy is : the Kennel club

AT THE PRESENT TIME - YOU WILL NOT BUY A WHITE PUPY IN ENGLAND,
THEY HAVE NOT BEEN BRED HERE FOR YEARS!
ALSO TO IMPORT A PUPPY/DOG IT TAKES 9 MONTHS OR MORE!
I am currently importing TWO beautiful little white males and a white female and hope for white babies in 2012.....
Import/Bring a puppy/dog to the UK:
They must first have a Rabies vaccination at 12 weeks, it cannot be done earlier, then one month later they must have a "titre" test to ensure the puppy has the right level of protection, if the test is successful the puppy/dog can travel SIX MONTHS after, so do not be fooled by the Scammers who say they will ship or send the dog from another Country, you will lose your money and be yet another stastic!
First, be prepared to around £1000
for your Pomeranian pet puppy, you will NOT buy a genuine Pomeranian for £300 or
£400 - do not be fooled by the adverts on the internet
Your Pomeranian should weigh approximately 4 - 6 lbs as an adult, puppies are
very tiny and VERY, VERY FLUFFY, they should weigh around 2lbs at 12 weeks.
The "cheap" ones are most certainly x-bred's which look like Poms as
a baby, with a fluffy coat & curly tail, but they are NOT pure Poms.
Most scammers/advertisers use photo's
taken from genuine Pomeranian websites, be very careful.
When you are looking for a Pomeranian Puppy, take your time to read through
this website where I have tried to give you as much help and advice for your
search. Do not RUSH into this, a big decision, as a puppy should never be
discarded and you will hopefully have many happy years with your new dog.
It is always best to either through myself or the Kennel Club find a caring
breeder, who will give you help and support from the time you take the puppy
home for the rest of his/her life.
Many sadly only want your money and could care-less once the poor little mite
has left them.
First there are the "Bad Breeders" mentioned above, basically they
take your money and that's it. Sort it out yourself attitude.
Secondly there are of course the Scammers, and this has become a HUGE business
in the U.K. mainly these are the adverts you will have been looking at, and you
have probably already seen MANY of them, they are all over the internet, they
are advertising puppies what appear to be very cheap, YOU WILL NOT BUY A
GENUINE CHEAP POMERANIAN.
However, now a lot of the scammers/x-bred mongrel sellers have got wise and put
the prices up, even to £1000 or more to fool unsuspecting buyers.
Remember our life is now full of scammers, whether it is buying "knock
off" goods or even buying a pet, the internet is full of them, so this
website it here to hopefully stop you before YOU are a victim.
Don't be daft enough to part with your hard earned cash, without ensuring you
have validated the seller, you will most certainly get NOTHING! -
especially if you send money to people without at least checking them out,
e.g. through the Kennel Club, by visiting their home/premises or by some form
of confirmation from other breeders (who you should also be able to check out)
that they are who they say they are, then NEVER part with ANY MONEY before you
have done this.
You will end up with no dog and no money if you do!
Most of these advertisers say that either the wife/husband has left and they
need to sell or rehome the dog usually at a fairly cheap price are scams, more
often than not they play on your emotions -
DON'T
BE TAKEN IN - YOU WILL NOT BUY A CHEAP POM, AND REPUTABLE BREEDERS DO NOT
"SHIP" THEIR PUPPIES.
PLUS A GENUINE BREEDER WILL HAVE A VALID LANDLINE TELEPHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS
YOU CAN VISIT.
Another "new" scam is from Nigeria & Africa etc., where they are
saying puppies will die if not "rescued", then they ask for money for
airport taxes etc. etc. - DON'T get caught.
Thirdly you have the Breeders who sell x-bred mongrels as pure bred pups, some
of them even have falsified Kennel Club papers!
Again these sort have also hiked the prices up, often to £1000 once again to
fool YOU. The worst bit is YOU will not know the difference between a proper
Pomeranian and a fluffy mongrel, you idealy need to see KC paperwork plus BOTH
parents, or visit the sire seperately, for what this puppy will cost you, it is
worth making the effort to do this.
Why the Growth in Puppy Farming? Because YOU are Buying Them.
It would be our pleasure for you to put him on your website as a scammer. Here is what we have
All pictures and puppies available can be seen via their Facebook. Just need to type petholick@yahoo.com to get updated version of what he is selling etc...
